Weekend Happenings

Last weekend my family came to Mississippi for a visit. Mary Catherine and Anna Scott were able to come down with my parents and it was such a treat! We enjoyed grilling-out and spending some much needed time together. As usual, Miss Anna Scott was the star of the show and kept us entertained throughout the weekend. She is so much fun!! On Friday the guys went golfing while the girls enjoyed laying and playing poolside.
On Saturday we took Anna Scott to a new park, Liberty Village. She was such a big girl and went down the "tunnel slide" all by herself! I got told "No, Aunt Allison, I do it" many times.  2 going on 12.
I love when my family comes to visit us but it's always so hard watching them leave. Bittersweet.

This weekend was the first weekend we have been home and without visitors in quite sometime. We enjoyed sleeping in and having a couple of lazy days. It is a rare occasion that we get to sleep in on Saturday, wake up and say "What do you want to do today?" So we soaked it up and made the most of our weekend together!

Friday night we had a date night! Dinner and a movie was on the agenda. Alan opened the door for me (well, he usually does this anyway), I got all "dolled up", and we held hands the entire night. I told Alan in the car on the way from dinner to the movie that I felt like we are on a real date....like the dates we took before we were engaged or married! It was like we were 16 and falling in love all over again. It was so refreshing.

Saturday night we celebrated our friend Sue's birthday!! Mexican food and great friends called for a pretty awesome night! Always love hanging out with this crew.  (These photos are horrible quality...one day I will remember to bring my fancy camera, and stop solely relying on my iphone)

On Sunday afternoon, we ventured out to try and find Emme some water to play in. She loved it so much at Lake Martin that we wanted her to be able to swim more often. We live very close to the Reservoir, a lake in Mississippi so we were hopeful of finding some water for our waterdog.  We went to Pelahatchie Park, a park that is located alongside the Reservior (thanks Laura for the recommendation) and let Emme fetch sticks off of the boating ramp. We are keepin' in classy here in Mississippi, y'all.  She had a blast and took a two hour nap when we got home.  For a dog with more energy than I thought ever possible...I call that success!

Now we are resting up for our typical busy Monday.  Back to all work and no play. Why can't it be NO work and ALL play? Dream on, right?  It was fun while it lasted.

I hope your weekends have been filled with good food, good people, and good times!

A Birthday, A Vacay, and Memorial Day

This post is going to be packed with quite a few of our recent "happenings" because I can't seem to find the time to blog on a regular basis.  We kicked off this Summer season with a bang and it has been a blast. This post is going to be an overload of pictures so get ready!

First off, my precious niece Anna Scott turned TWO on May 10th!  She brings so much love and joy to our family and we are loving watching her grow up (a little too fast might I add).  Anna Scott is full of personality and keeps us laughing. This age has been so much fun! The things that she says and her little facial expressions just melt my heart. We had a wonderful time celebrating her 2nd Birthday! Her Momma did such a great job throwing her a perfect "Party in the Park"!

Next, Alan and I headed to Mexico. We celebrated our first year wedding anniversary on April 14th and we took a belated trip to Secrets Resort on Maroma Beach to celebrate. It was absolutely beautiful and I cannot wait to go back. Anyone on the look-out for a top notch resort for you and your loved one - call me! Here are some pictures of our week in paradise....
We wrapped up our vacation by spending a few nights at Lake Martin and celebrating Memorial Day. We introduced our little baby pup, Emme, to the lake and she was quite the water dog!
I'll be popping back in soon to blog about some weekends full of family fun! So stay tuned....
