A Sprinkle for Baby Boy Laney

Last weekend my sister's closest friends and I threw her a sweet sprinkle for baby boy Laney! It was a special time celebrating my sister and this sweet boy on the way.  He will be the first boy born in our family in a very long time and we cannot contain our excitement. He is already so loved and we can't wait to see his precious face.  Big thanks to my Mary Catherine's best friend since 2nd grade, Katie, for making the shower so special and hosting it at her home.
The cutest cookies from Sugar and Iced. Thanks Niki!!
The brunch food tasted just as good as it looks.
Delicious treats for the guests!
Hostess
Mom, Mary Catherine, and Debra her MIL
Caroline attended her first baby shower! She can't wait to be a "big" cousin :)
Our sweet Granny makes quilts for all the new babies in our family. We will forever treasure these gifts.
Love my girl!
In just a few short weeks there will be another little bitty baby to hold and snuggle! We can't wait to meet you baby boy!

Happy TWO Months!

I blinked and you turned two months old. You are changing everyday and it just gets better and better. You are much more alert and attentive these days and we love your interactions with us. You smile and "talk" all the time and if you get really happy you *almost* laugh out loud. You LOVE kicking your legs and squirming around. Your eyes are so big and are as blue as the ocean. Your hair is still sandy blonde (still can't believe your a blondie but I love it). You are sleeping 7-8 hour stretches at night and we are SO grateful.  We could eat you up from top to bottom :)
Things you love
#1 - PACI - addicted at an early age. Yikes.
#2 - Sounds- vacuum, hair dryer, white noise, running water
#3 -Being outside
#4 - Your car seat and car rides
#5-  Strolling
#6 - Looking at your toys and ceiling fans
#7 - Talking and Smiling
#8 - Being held and rocked
You still aren't a fan of bath time but you love being wrapped up in your big fluffy bath towel after all the torture is over.....
This picture captures your personality so well. Dainty, precious and alert!
This photo was taken on your 8 week old birthday :)
I could stare at your precious face for hours on end. You have impacted our lives in more ways than I could have ever imagined. Though the last two months have brought enormous amounts of change and challenges, they have also brought more joy than my heart has ever felt before. Life is sweeter with your smiles. Thank you Lord for our Caroline Catherine.

What's Up Doc?! 2 Month Check-Up

Caroline is 8 weeks old today! It was a big day as she had her 2 month check-up. Praise the Lord for a healthy, growing baby!
She is still on the smaller side but she is growing appropriately with no concerns.  She must take after her Aunt MC! Dainty, precious and sweet as sugar.  She weighs 9 lb 8 oz and will NOT keep her arms by her side :)
She is 21 3/4 inches long.
Her heart and lungs sounded perfect!
She doesn't really like when anyone messes with her face. Whenever I clean her nose or put headbands on her she utilizes her little lungs to their full capacity. To say that she didn't like when the doctor looked in her eyes, ears, and mouth is a big ole' understatement (insert really angry face).
After her exam with the doctor she got a pep talk from Dad about the shots that were coming. He told her the pain would only last for a few seconds and that if she didn't cry we would reward her with ice cream....I'm pretty sure he was secretly talking to me. When the nurse walked in with the shots Mommy had to step out of the room.  I worked in the ICU as a nurse at Chilrden's Hospital for 3 years and took care of the sickest, most precious kids but couldn't even be in the same room when my baby got her shots. Call me a wimp, but my heart just couldn't handle it.
Post shot exhaustion.....She was such a trooper!
It was a successful trip to the doctor, but I am very glad that it is over! Now we are home giving lots of snuggles and love to our healthy baby girl.
Happy 8 Weeks Caroline Cate! We love you!

Tiny Fingers, Tiny Toes

We had Caroline's newborn photos taken when she was one day shy of two weeks old.  These photos capture her "newness" so beautifully.  The newborn phase goes by so incredibly fast and I know I will love having these sweet memories to remind me of how tiny and fragile she once was. There's not much sweeter in this world than tiny baby toes.
Let them be little,
'cause their only that way far awhile.
Give them hope,
give them praise,
give them love everyday.
Let them cry,
let them giggle,
let them sleep in the middle.
Oh, but let them be little.
