Caroline's First Day of Kindergarten

What a FUN day!! Yes, I cried. But it was very brief because she was so excited and it was such a sweet time. Surrounded by family and friends she happily strolled into school, only looking back once. A piece of my heart broke knowing that things will never be the same as far as our lazy mornings at home and our days spent together. I also know she will grow up SO much this year but thankful for this precious school and the wonderful time she will have meeting new friends.
That quick look back. All I needed to turn into a puddle.
She had a GREAT day!

Twas the Night Before Kindergarten.....

We are so incredibly happy that Caroline will be going to the same school as our best big cousin, Anna Scott! Anna Scott wanted to have a special night with Caroline the day before school started to show her the ropes and talk with her about what to expect on her first day at Crestline. It was such a precious time with just the girls doing "girl things" and talking all about their upcoming big day. We are SO blessed by this sweet girl whose heart is bigger than big.
The evening started off with matching bracelets from Granmommy!
Then a fun gift from Anna Scott!
Next up, a tour around the school....
Then we got our nails done!
After our special night with Anna Scott, mommy had a special present for Caroline. We have been reading the book called The Kissing Hand. It's about Chester the Raccoon who is nervous about going to school and misses his mother. His mother talks to him about how fun school will be playing with all of his friends and she comes up with a brilliant idea! She kisses Chester's palms each day before he goes to school and presses his palm against his cheek. Now her kiss will stay with him all throughout the day at school even when she isn't there. I played off this story and got Caroline her very own "kissing pearl" necklace. A sweet pearl she wears around her neck that I kiss each morning so she has my kiss with her all day long. I got one for myself so she can kiss mine and I will have her with me.
And last but not least we got Sweet Frog's on the way home to end our day!
A warm bath and a bedtime story and she is officially READY for KINDERGARTEN!!! Mommy is NOT!

Caroline Meets Her Kindergarten Teacher

And just like that a huge new chapter begins for our sweet girl. I remember many saying to me when Caroline was an infant to soak in those hard days because she will be going to kindergarten before I know it. Nothing has ever been so true. Five years have come and gone and she's off to big girl school. Seems impossible but she is so excited which keeps me from being extra sad. Trying to focus on how thankful I am that is she healthy and able to go to Kindergarten!!! This year will be so very different with masks and social distancing due to Covid but I pray she has a great year regardless!!!

We got to meet her precious teacher, Mrs. Hennessey.  We had a warm welcome into her classroom and she loved checking our her locker and getting her nap mat! I had a lump in my throat the entire time. Still not sure how she is old enough to be walking into school for Kindergarten.
This girl is READY to be a Crestline Kindergartener! Praying God's protection over her this year as she begins a big chapter in such uncertain circumstances.
