Last weekend my family came to Mississippi for a visit. Mary Catherine and Anna Scott were able to come down with my parents and it was such a treat! We enjoyed grilling-out and spending some much needed time together. As usual, Miss Anna Scott was the star of the show and kept us entertained throughout the weekend. She is so much fun!! On Friday the guys went golfing while the girls enjoyed laying and playing poolside.
On Saturday we took Anna Scott to a new park, Liberty Village. She was such a big girl and went down the "tunnel slide" all by herself! I got told "No, Aunt Allison, I do it" many times. 2 going on 12.
I love when my family comes to visit us but it's always so hard watching them leave. Bittersweet.
This weekend was the first weekend we have been home and without visitors in quite sometime. We enjoyed sleeping in and having a couple of lazy days. It is a rare occasion that we get to sleep in on Saturday, wake up and say "What do you want to do today?" So we soaked it up and made the most of our weekend together!
Friday night we had a date night! Dinner and a movie was on the agenda. Alan opened the door for me (well, he usually does this anyway), I got all "dolled up", and we held hands the entire night. I told Alan in the car on the way from dinner to the movie that I felt like we are on a real date....like the dates we took before we were engaged or married! It was like we were 16 and falling in love all over again. It was so refreshing.
On Sunday afternoon, we ventured out to try and find Emme some water to play in. She loved it so much at Lake Martin that we wanted her to be able to swim more often. We live very close to the Reservoir, a lake in Mississippi so we were hopeful of finding some water for our waterdog. We went to Pelahatchie Park, a park that is located alongside the Reservior (thanks Laura for the recommendation) and let Emme fetch sticks off of the boating ramp. We are keepin' in classy here in Mississippi, y'all. She had a blast and took a two hour nap when we got home. For a dog with more energy than I thought ever possible...I call that success!
Now we are resting up for our typical busy Monday. Back to all work and no play. Why can't it be NO work and ALL play? Dream on, right? It was fun while it lasted.
I hope your weekends have been filled with good food, good people, and good times!
