Cousin Time

Earlier this week my mom, sister and niece came to visit for a few days. It was so much fun having them here and I loved having the extra set of hands around the house! Anna Scott is the best big cousin and interacted so well with baby CC.  She sang the sweetest lullabies, read her books, and gave lots of hugs and kisses. She is getting a baby brother in June and we cannot wait to meet him!! She will be such a great big sister and such a huge help for her mommy and daddy!
We went on our first shopping outing while they were here. Caroline Cate slept the entire time and it was great getting out of the house and enjoying the beautiful spring weather!  I see many more mommy/daughter shopping trips in our future.
We stopped by Pet Co and let Anna Scott see the animals (except the reptiles, we didn't venture down those aisles.)  She loved seeing the birds, goldfish, hamsters, and kittens.
And then we had to make one last stop. Anna Scott cannot come and visit without a trip to the park! This was CC's first time to go to the park and she wasn't very amused. It's only a matter of time.
We loved our time together and look forward to many more visits until we finally get to move back home! Only 14 more months :)

Third Week

We wrapped up our third week with baby girl a few days ago and we continue to be completely smitten by every little sound she makes. That being said, I'm going to have a moment of honesty here and say that  week three was rough. No sugar-coating it. However,  Caroline Cate wasn't the problem.....it was mommy.  I have been pretty sick for the past week and it is no small feat trying to take care of a newborn (even an easy newborn) while feeling under the weather. Alan fortunately had almost two weeks off right after she was born but now he is having to work extra to make up for his time off.  So for the past few days and the next week he will be gone from 6:30am to 8:00pm.  Luckily, I have the best mom in the world and after one phone call saying that I was running fever and my level of exhaustion had reached it's limit, she was on her way no questions asked.  Even though she is a very long 5 hour drive away, she still hops in the car without even a second thought to come help. I couldn't have made it these past three weeks without her. No question. Thanks Mom!

CC is the best baby and I am so so thankful because with how sick I have been the past week I don't know what I would have done with a fussy baby on top of my illness.  At three weeks old she has already put herself on a schedule and she loves her sleep almost as much as her mommy does. She takes her nighttime bottle at 9pm, sleeps 9p-3:30a, takes another bottle, then is out again until 8:30a.  Every night before we go to bed I always wonder if this will be the night that things change but we have been going strong on this schedule for about a week now.  Keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't change. She is still sleeping in our room but if she keeps sleeping so well we may transition her into her crib at one month. Tears will be shed. At three weeks she LOVES her paci, being rocked, being swaddled at night, her bottles, making the cutest grunting noises, someone singing to her (Mary Poppins tunes are her favorite), listening to running water while I take a bath, stroller rides, and car rides. She fills our heart with oh so much joy!
Not the biggest fan of tummy time.

Spending some time with daddy before he heads into work.  I love seeing him interact with her. It's so sweet. And I must admit, she is his little mini-me. She looks so much like him! Good thing he's cute :)
So very thankful for all of Lollie's help! She was able to stay with us for a few nights while Daddy was working. We love you!

She had her first real bath in our "spa" tub and she couldn't make up her mind if she liked it or not. She has had two more baths since her first one and seemed to enjoy them a little more.
Happy Three Weeks, Baby Girl!

First Stroll

As soon as we got the ok from our pediatrician to get out of the house we hit the road for our first stroll! We have the perfect neighborhood and area for walking with sidewalks extending for miles around our house. I foresee many walks with my girl in our future. She slept most of the time and when she woke up she seemed very content.  I just love my sweet little family!

What's Up Doc?! 2 Week Check-Up

On Thursday, 3/19/15, Caroline Cate had her first doctors visit. She did extremely well and thankfully didn't have to get any shots! She is perfectly healthy and growing oh so fast.  She has gained a whole pound since birth! She is quickly earning the nickname "Piggy" but we aren't complaining! We were cleared to take her out to eat, on walks, etc with the understanding to leave her in her car seat and not let everyone touch and hold her in public. So after the doctor appt we treated ourselves to lunch. She slept the entire time! It was so nice to get out of the house and get some fresh air. It's the little things:)
20 1/4" long
7 lbs!
So thankful for a happy and healthy baby! We will go back at 2 months and I hear that there are shots involved with that visit. Mommy may need to be pre-medicated for that one!

Happy TWO Weeks!

Caroline Cate turned two weeks old on March 18, 2015!

Second Week

Week number two is coming to a close and I can't believe how quickly these past two weeks have come and gone. Caroline Cate is still sleeping in 3-4 hour intervals and eating around 4 oz of breastmilk each feeding. She is becoming more alert during the day feedings and loves looking around. She is quite the "grunter" and you never have to guess if she has messed in her diaper :) We will need to work on her manners and learn how to become a proper little lady. Ha. She still loves her bouncy swing and her little lamb rocker.  Music and any bouncy seat that vibrates will put her right to sleep. She is already obsessed with her paci (yikes) and she loves to lay on my chest. At night I have to set my alarm clock to wake her up and feed her and then she drifts right back to sleep for another good 3-4 hours after we feed. Praise Jesus! I keep hesitating to say it because I don't want to jinx it but she is such a good baby thus far.  I am so grateful. The first two weeks are hard enough as it is just figuring everything out and throwing a fussy baby in the mix would be very challenging.  Kudos to you moms out there that are going through that....you deserve a hug and a good nights sleep! Here are a few photos taken during our second week at home with our girl!
This gown was mine and my sister's when we were babies. Anna Scott wore it when she was two weeks old and now CC is wearing it!
Anna Scott at two weeks old in the same gown
Sweet head and sandy blonde hair (Still not sure where that hair color came from)
Pretty big eyes! Loves that paci!
Loved having Grandaddy and Granmomma back for a visit! Side note: You will grow to appreciate and love your parents even more than you ever thought you could after you have a baby of your own. You realize all they sacrificed for you throughout the years and how much they love you. Thank you for all you have done for me and all you have already done for Caroline Cate. We love you!
My sweet girl oh how I love you.
